The subject builds on research knowledge commonly taught in undergraduate programs. Research designs used in a variety of healthcare disciplines will be examined, with a focus on both methodology and methods.
You will acquire the knowledge and skills to undertake a research project. The principles of ethical research will be discussed, while avenues for the dissemination of research results will also be explored.
Learning outcomes
Students who successfully complete this subject will be able to:
- Examine the role of research in producing evidence for healthcare
- Critique various research methodologies and methods
- Analyse ethical issues in relation to research conducted with humans
- Design a research proposal to investigate a workplace issue.
Assessment
Assessment for this course will occur at various times across the seven-week study period. Tasks may include online quizzes, discussion board activities, portfolio development, case studies, reflection, literature reviews, presentations and reports. Feedback will be provided to you throughout the study period as well as a final grade at the conclusion of the study period.
This subject is part of both the Leadership and Management major and Nurse Education major in the online Master of Nursing.
