Advanced Health Assessment

This subject aims to provide students with the requisite knowledge and skills to complete system-specific and comprehensive health histories and physical examinations. The subject will expand the student's knowledge of the cognitive processes and psychomotor skills needed for a comprehensive assessment of uncomplicated or healthy patients/clients across the lifespan. Students will develop effective clinical interviewing skills, history taking and advanced physical assessment skills in order to deliver holistic person-centred care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary health care team.

- Explain a range of evidence based health conceptual frameworks integral to advanced health assessment in clinical practice
- Describe components of system-specific and comprehensive health histories and physical examinations
- Perform system specific and comprehensive health histories and physical examinations that include appropriate cultural, psychosocial, cognitive, genetic and developmental elements
- Demonstrate clinical reasoning and decision making appropriate to their individual scope of practice.
