Develop a framework for financing and managing business resources. Examine crucial decisions, such as capital project evaluation and capital structure, while exploring the foundational concepts of risk and return, and the time value of money in different contexts. In this subject, there is an emphasis on combining theory with practical applications to reflect on recent developments in finance from a local and international perspective. Specific knowledge areas include discounted cash flow valuation, modern portfolio theory, the cost of capital, dividend policy and options.

Learning outcomes

Upon completing this subject, you will be able to:

  • Analyse and apply financial concepts to contemporary business contexts
  • Evaluate financial concepts for value creation in corporate planning and decision making

Assessment

Assessment for this course will occur at various times across the seven-week study period. Tasks may include online quizzes, discussion board activity, portfolio development, case studies, reflection, literature reviews presentations and reports. Feedback will be provided to you throughout the study period as well as a final grade at the conclusion of the study period.
